Fez Private City Tour

Fez is a city in northeastern Morocco often considered the cultural capital of the country. It is mainly famous for the walled medina of Fez El Bali, with medieval Marinid architecture, bustling souks and an old-fashioned atmosphere. The medina is home to religious schools such as the 14th century Medersas Bou Inania and Al Attarine, both decorated with carved cedar panels and delicate mosaics.

You will meet your local guide for a tour of the medina and the main historic site.

Start the visit at Bab Boujloud, one of the gates that lead to the medina. Visit some of the beautiful old buildings such as the Bou Inania and El-Attarine Madrasa, the Koranic schools of religious studies, and the Al-Karaouine University and Mosque. Visit the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts and discover traditional tools, rugs, furniture and musical instruments in a beautifully restored caravanserai.

Before a lunch break, continue to the famous tanneries, where leather is still processed as it was hundreds of years ago. Watch the workers from a booth and learn about the different jobs, and even negotiate for a new bag or belt later.

Outside the medina is the Royal Palace with its large square lined with palm trees. Finally, climb the hill to the Bab Fettouh cemetery and enjoy the panoramic view of the White Sea from the houses of the medina.
