Day 1: Marrakech to Imlil and Trek to Toubkal Refuge:
09:00 AM: Departure from Marrakech
Your adventure begins as you meet your driver at your accommodation or a designated pick-up point in Marrakech. Enjoy scenic views as you travel through the stunning Moroccan countryside toward Imlil, a picturesque village located at an altitude of approximately 1740 meters.
Arrival in Imlil: Refreshments and Briefing
Stop for a refreshing cup of mint tea and meet your local guide. Your guide will provide a briefing on the trek ahead, discussing route options based on your fitness level and interests.
Trek to Toubkal Refuge (3100m)
Trek Duration: Approx. 5-6 hours
Your guided trek begins as you set off from Imlil. The trail winds through the scenic landscape of the Imlil Valley, where you will walk through cascading waterfalls and traditional Berber villages such as Ait Mizan, Targa, and Imoula.
Experience the transition in altitude as you ascend through diverse terrain, enjoying the cool mountain air and breathtaking views. The refuge at 3100 meters is your destination for the night.
Lunch: Enjoy a packed lunch along the trail or at the refuge.
Evening at Toubkal Refuge
After a rewarding hike, arrive at the Toubkal Refuge. The refuge provides basic but comfortable accommodations, allowing you to relax and recharge for the following day’s ascent.
Dinner: Enjoy a hearty dinner at the refuge, prepared by the staff, and recount the day’s adventures with fellow trekkers.
Day 2: Summit Toubkal (4167m) and Return to Imlil:
Early Morning:
4:00 AM Departure: Wake up early to begin your ascent to Toubkal's summit. Your guide will lead you through a starry sky as you make your way along the well-marked trail.
Ascent to Toubkal (4167m)
Trek Duration: Approx. 3-4 hours to the summit
The trail initially follows a steep incline through rocky terrain but remains manageable. As you ascend, you will experience the breathtaking beauty of the Atlas Mountains and the surrounding area. Engage in a rhythm of steady breathing while your excitement builds as you approach the peak.
Upon reaching the summit, you will be greeted with panoramic views that stretch for miles across the diverse terrain of Morocco. Capture the moment with photos and take in the majestic sight of surrounding peaks and valleys.
Celebrate Your Achievement: Spend time at the summit soaking in the atmosphere. Your guide may share more stories about the geology and history of the area.
Descent:
After enjoying your time at the top, begin your descent back to the refuge (approx. 2-3 hours). Here, you will have another opportunity to enjoy the scenery and reflect on your accomplishment.
Return to Imlil:
After breakfast at the refuge, continue your trek down to Imlil (approx. 2-3 hours). Relax and take in the natural beauty surrounding you during the descent.
Meeting Your Driver:
Once you arrive in Imlil, meet your driver for the return transfer to Marrakech.
Expected Arrival in Marrakech:
Approximately 6 PM, concluding your exhilarating 2-day adventure.
