Description

Marrakech, the former imperial city of western Morocco, and a major economic center housing mosques, palaces and gardens. The medina is a fortified and densely populated medieval city dating from the Berber Empire, with alleys intertwined like a labyrinth, where the bustling souks (markets) sell fabrics, pottery and traditional jewelry. Symbol of the city, the minaret of the 12th century Moorish mosque of Koutoubia is visible for miles.

While you’re in Casablanca, expand your horizons with a private day trip to Marrakech.

Pick up at 07h30 in the morning from your hotel or residence accommodation by our professional bilingual driver.

When you reach Marrakech, you will meet your local guide for a 3.5-hour walking tour around the medina. Discover the stalls of the old fortified city before going to the Bahia Palace to discover its magnificent interior courtyards and its mosaic walls, built for the vizier Abu Bou Ahmed.

Stroll through the Jewish quarter ("mellah"), where you will notice the different architecture of the district. Explore the Saadian tombs, built during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in 1557, and then go to some of the biggest souk to discover all section that market.

Go to the Koutoubia Mosque, completed during the reign of the Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur (1184–1199), before plunging into the electric atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna, the liveliest square and market in Africa. Quench your thirst with freshly squeezed orange juice while watching snake charmers, henna tattoo artists and water merchants.

Stop for a tasty delicious lunch in a very art deco Riad . Then, meet your driver for a trip to the Majorelle garden, bought and then restored by the French couturier, Yves Saint-Laurent. Take advantage of 1.5 hours of free time to explore this peaceful oasis, stroll through the botanical gardens to admire cacti and other plants, as well as the walls in bright cobalt, a shade known today as "Majorelle Blue".

Meet your driver for the return journey late evening.
